HOWARD ROCKWIN
For thirty five years, Howard Rockwin taught instrumental music in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School district where his groups participated in four European concert tours, performed at many national conventions and worked with such noted soloists as Urbie Green, and members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra
Mr. Rockwin has had over twenty five former students go into the teaching profession and many of his private bassoon students have performed with noted orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Tenerife Orchestra as well as the Houston Symphony and the Orchestra in Barcelona.
Mr. Rockwin studied bassoon with Sanford Sharoff, Wilbur Simpson, and Leonard Sharrow. He maintains a busy performing schedule in the New York metropolitan areas and is also on the faculty of Nassau Community College and CW Post – LIU as an adjunct professor of bassoon.

Mr. Rockwin has also photographed workshops and performances by Bobby McFerrin, Piquito D'Rivera, Walt Weiskoff, the New York Voices, Vanessa Williams, Twala Twarp. The Shanghai String Quartet, James Galway, and for ASCAP: Jerry Herman and Marilyn and Alan Bergman as well as Opera Workshops and performances.
GEORGE ROCKWIN
I have been a professional photographer for the past thirty-plus years having started my career as a National Geographic Intern working with Robert Gilka, Senior Picture Editor. In addition, I had the honor of working with Ernst Haas and William Abramowicz. My photos have appeared in National History Magazine and Travel and Leisure.
My musical career began with studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music in their Artist Diploma program. At that time, I was a conducting student of James Levine and a trumpet student of Bernard Edelstein. I have degrees in Music Education from Boston University as well as from Hofstra University. In addition, I have an Administrator’s Degree from LIU C.W. Post Campus. This has culminated in my career as the Director of Music, Fine Arts and Technology at the Longwood Central School District, where I had worked for thirty-eight years. After semi-retirement, I worked as an education consultant with the Music and Arts Corporation. Currently, and for the past seven years, I have been adjunct faculty at Dowling College in Oakdale, New York.
PETER FRUTKOFF
Peter Frutkoff recently retired after 34 years of teaching elementary instrumental music. In addition, he taught undergraduate music education classes at LIU Post, and is currently an adjunct professor at Adelphi University. Peter has been an active freelance musician in the New York City/metropolitan area for over 40 years. He has held positions on executive boards on the county and state level, as well as guest conducting on the county level.
As a photographer, Peter specializes in concert imaging and sports. He has been the game photographer for the Long Island Ducks and the Staten Island Yankees. Other sports include professional boxing and high school sport coverage. Peter has an extensive library of concert images including Phil Woods, Jimmy Heath, Branford Marsalis, the Birdland Big Band as well as Stanley Drucker.
ED STONE
Ed Stone has been a professional photographer for many years. He has done model portfolios for NYC model agencies, weddings, catalogue work and also publicity photos for the US Marines, Army and Coast Guard.
Ed was a high school Band Director for 40 years and still plays trumpet professionally. He has been a member of The American Concert Band for over 30 years, is currently playing with the Old Bethpage Restoration Village Brass Band and The Front Page 16 piece jazz band (which just finished playing on Broadway).
STEVE LEVINE
Steve brings over 25 years experience working in the photo industry doing everything from studio and event photography, color printing and photo lab work, to fine art and large format printing, to ICC color profiling for the best photo reproductions available.
As a trumpet player he also has a good understanding of the requirements necessary to help give the best results possible in creating memories of one’s child’s performances. |
